About
Dr Anaïs Augé, FNRS research fellow and associate lecturer at UCLouvain, will present her study on sceptical arguments in climate crisis discourse. Dr Augé will explore how socio-cultural components, especially references to religion, shape arguments that dispute climate science and policy. Her study examines texts from national news media and political speeches, drawing on over 12,000 sources from 2006 to 2024. Four case studies will be discussed: Belgium’s pragmatic approach to ecology, France’s fear of eco-terrorism, the United Kingdom’s distrust of climate science, and the United States’ sarcastic view on climate activism.
Attendance is free, but registration is required (same link).
