About
During the more quiet summer months we want to take some time to go to nature. An excellent opportunity to visit De Wildernis, the agri-wilding project of Franky Bossuyt.
Agenda
- 10h30 - 12h00 guided tour of De Wildernis
- 12h00 - 13h00 lunch
- 13h00 - 14h30 Round table on HOST collaborations on biodiversity and sustainable food production
For those leaving from Brussels, we meet at 9h30 at the VUB Â campus (Pleinlaan 5) to drive togetherÂ
It takes a while to go there by public transport so we would like to find volunteers to carpool there.Â
There is limited capacity to visit De Wildernis.
De Wildernis is an agri-wilding project on 2 hectares in the Aerebeek Valley in Herne amid the rolling Pajottenland. Here, we want to create an oasis of beauty and tranquillity for people and animals with the appearance of a pristine piece of nature. A significant proportion of the perennials therefore grow in an open forest edge structure and all our products (fruit, nuts, vegetables, herbs and flowers) grow without pesticides or artificial fertilisers, with respect for groundwater and soil life, and with space for natural biodiversity. We also use De Wildernis as a living laboratory for research to test the potential of agriwilding in practice and monitor its impact on restoring natural biodiversity.
